Instructions for Breathing Practice
1. Yoga is breath; when we focus on our breath we focus on the most essential in us
2. Breath is life; when our breath is steady, our body, mind and soul are healthy
3. What are the little things we can do daily to maintain our breath, life and health?
- Breathing through the nose is better than breathing through the mouth
- Exhaling longer is better than inhaling often
- Quieter breath is better than loud or forced breath
- When breath moves, get your body and mind follow like a shadow. When our body or mind lead, breath is restricted
- Get into a habit of observing your breath often
“By the proper practice of pranayama all diseases are eradicated while through the improper practice all diseases occur” - Hatha Yoga Pradīpikā (Ch 2, V 16)
